Black Shatter – a top coat that crackles to create a textured look

This is a SUPER cool Top Coat from OPI and Katy Perry Collection for Spring 2011. It creates a shattered effect on your nails like the photos below(I have a Metallic Bronze colour underneath):

The directions to use this is similar to any top coat. You need to apply a base coat, then a polish colour, allow the polish colour to dry completely. Apply a thin coat of this top coat, after which watch the MAGIC happy on your nails, the black topcoat will start to crack/shatter.

I got mine from Trade Secrets at Eaton centre, but I any where that carried OPI will probably carry this.

Thanks for reading

Til the next time...

Nanoblur = Perfect Skin??

Remember my Makeupbyti post that I was trying out Nanoblur?

The following Toronto Star reminded me that I wanted to do a review on the product.

http://www.thestar.com/living/fashion/article/915159--style-list-sweet-sui-and-potions-that-really-work

Description from Nanoblur Website: http://www.indeedlabs.com/nanoblur/default.aspx

WHAT IS IT IN ONE WORD... MAGIC!

Nanoblur is not skincare. It is quite simply tomorrow’s high technology, today. It is not a cream. It is a suspension of millions and millions of particles that reflect light perfectly in billions of directions to make the skin’s surface appear completely flawless. Within seconds, pores appear to disappear. Fine lines appear to vanish. The skin texture appears nearly perfect. With one application on any skin surface (even on your hands), you will be convinced that Nanoblur will make you look up to 10 years younger in a matter of seconds. It’s just that simple.

MADE FOR THE STARS

Nanoblur’s technology was originally developed to help stars look better in high-definition motion picture. Since the advent of high-definition technology, skin imperfections have become far more apparent on camera and Nanoblur was created so that celebrities could “blur” out imperfections that were previously not visible with traditional cameras.

PRICE POINT

$19.99

How do I like the product?

Pros:
  1. Does what it claims to a certain extend, it will reduce appearance of lines and pores, but it certainly is NOT some miracle potion that will transform your skin 100%. It will not replace foundation/concealers that you might need to acheive a flawless base.
  2. It is moderately priced compared to some other primers on the market.
  3. It reduces the amount of foundation and concealer that you will need to acheive a flawless base.
  4. It is great to use for photography due to its light reflecting properties and will definitely help in creating an illusion of perfect skin on photos.
  5. It creates a matte finish to the skin and rids unwanted shine
  6. It has lasting power.

Cons:
  1. BIG CON - it DOESN'T work with all foundations. With some foundations it leaves the finish streaky. The Giorgio Armani foundation I like works and it also works well with the Chanel vitalumiere foundation. I've tried some other foundation that just doesn't work with it, i.e. Revlon HD foundation, Nars Sheer glow, Laura Mercier etc.
  2. I hear Nanoblur is currently working on their own foundation to couple with the Nanoblur primer.

Overall:

Worth a try and results will vary depending on your skintype and the foundation of your choice.
